KNQA and NITA Partner to Boost Skills Development and Training Standards in Kenya

The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) and National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) have launched a strategic partnership to align industrial training with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF) and enhance skills development in Kenya.
During a consultative meeting led by KNQA CEO Dr. Alice Kande and NITA’s Peter Njiru, the two institutions discussed ways to standardize qualifications, improve training curricula, and ensure skills gained through technical and vocational education meet market demands.
Key areas of focus include integrating industrial training into KNQF, strengthening Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to certify skills acquired informally, and tailoring training to align with industry needs.
The collaboration also aims to introduce digital learning, virtual assessments, and e-certifications to improve access and efficiency, especially for those in remote areas.
Both institutions committed to ongoing collaboration with industries and technical training institutions to ensure Kenyan graduates are equipped with globally competitive, practical skills that enhance employability and productivity.
