The bill, sponsored by Hon. Owen Baya, also removes time limits on Historical Land Injustices (HLI) claims, giving victims unrestricted access to seek redress.

“This is a game-changer for land justice in Kenya. Affected communities can now pursue justice without limitations,” said NLC CEO CHRP Kabale Tache Arero.

The move comes as Kenya faces ongoing land disputes and illegal acquisitions, aligning with President William Ruto’s pledge to address land injustices.

Hon. Baya thanked Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Hon. Joash Nyamoko, Chair of the Parliamentary Land Committee, for supporting the bill.

With the law set for enactment, the NLC will now intensify reviews of past land allocations and address historical grievances—offering hope for fairness and justice in Kenya’s land sector.
