The Kenya Leather Industry Park (KLIP) is on track for its March 31, 2025 launch, marking a major step in Kenya’s leather sector transformation. A recent progress review in Kinanie, Machakos County, brought together key stakeholders to assess the multi-billion-shilling project.

Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) CEO Dr. Isaac Noor emphasized KLIP’s economic potential:

“The Leather Industry Park is a game-changer, enhancing value addition, creating jobs, and positioning Kenya as a regional leather hub.”

Designed to modernize leather processing, reduce raw exports, and boost competitiveness, KLIP aligns with Kenya’s industrialization agenda.

Livestock Development PS Jonathan Mueke visited the site to evaluate critical infrastructure—including roads, water, energy, ICT, and security—ensuring investor readiness. Once operational, KLIP is expected to generate thousands of jobs and provide new markets for livestock farmers.

Mueke commended inter-agency collaboration, with ministries working together to deliver the project. Dr. Noor assured stakeholders that strict oversight and global standards remain a priority as the launch date nears.

KLIP is set to revolutionize Kenya’s leather sector, driving industrial growth and expanding export potential.
