PS Geoffrey Kaituko Reunites with Turkana County Legislative Officers at CAF Summit

By John Kariuki
Nairobi, Kenya – Principal Secretary for Shipping and Maritime Affairs Geoffrey Kaituko had a memorable reunion with three legislative officers from Turkana County Assembly, whom he personally recruited over a decade ago.
Gladys Long’orio, Cynthia Moru, and Brenda Mana, now seasoned professionals, paid a courtesy call to PS Kaituko during the 5th County Assemblies Forum (CAF) Legislative Summit in Nairobi. The summit brought together policymakers and lawmakers to strengthen devolution and governance across Kenya.
For Kaituko, the meeting was a full-circle moment. As Turkana’s first County Assembly Speaker in 2013, he handpicked these officers as part of his founding team. Seeing them now thrive in their careers underscored the impact of mentorship and strong leadership.
“I still remember the day we brought them on board. They were young, eager, and full of promise. Today, they are shaping legislative processes in Turkana. It’s a proud moment,” said Kaituko.
The officers expressed gratitude for his guidance, highlighting how their participation in the CAF Legislative Summit would further enhance governance in Turkana.
While PS Kaituko now leads Kenya’s maritime sector, his bond with Turkana remains strong. His journey from County Speaker to a national leader reflects the power of mentorship and dedication.
