Speaking as a member of the National Assembly’s Education Committee, Emaase highlighted the university’s Ksh 12.99 billion pending bills, which have led to delayed staff salaries, stalled projects, and declining student enrollment. She warned that if left unchecked, the crisis could destabilize higher education in Kenya.

“This financial strain is not just about TUK—it threatens the future of our entire education sector,” Emaase stated, urging swift intervention.

The Education Committee is pushing for a financial rescue plan, policy reforms in university funding, and increased accountability in resource management. Legislators are also advocating for renewed investment in infrastructure and long-term financial stability measures to prevent similar crises in other public universities.

Emaase reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to engaging the Ministry of Education and stakeholders to secure a lasting solution. “Our goal is not just temporary relief, but a strong, financially stable education system that serves students and staff effectively,” she concluded.
