Kenya Boosts Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts with Training Workshop

By John Kariuki
The State Department for Diaspora Affairs has intensified efforts to combat human trafficking through a three-day capacity-building workshop in Nairobi. The initiative aims to equip government officers with skills to identify, prevent, and respond to trafficking cases affecting vulnerable groups, including migrants and diaspora communities.
Led by Ms. Emma Gicheha, Director of Welfare and Rights, the workshop brought together officials from key government divisions, with facilitation from Ms. Marygorret Mogaka, Counter-Trafficking in Persons (CTiP) Secretariat, and Mr. Mohammed Salah, IOM Kenya Representative. The training emphasized policy enforcement, legal frameworks, and inter-agency collaboration to dismantle trafficking networks.
This initiative aligns with Kenya’s broader anti-trafficking strategy, reinforcing partnerships with international stakeholders and strengthening protection for victims. The government remains committed to eradicating human trafficking and ensuring safe migration and diaspora welfare.
