Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has called on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to embrace national leadership instead of focusing solely on the Mt. Kenya region. In a strongly-worded statement, Wamuchomba urged Gachagua to unite the country rather than engage in divisive regional politics, especially as Kenyans grapple with economic hardship, job losses, and rising living costs.

“We need leaders who fight for all Kenyans, not just one community. The challenges we face—joblessness, failing businesses—affect everyone, regardless of tribe or region,” she stated.

Wamuchomba emphasized that Kenya cannot afford leadership driven by ethnic favoritism, warning that such politics only deepens division and resentment.

“Gachagua was Kenya’s Deputy President, not Mt. Kenya’s Deputy President. It is time he starts acting like a national leader who prioritizes the needs of all citizens.”

Her remarks highlight growing frustration over regional politics overshadowing national unity. As Kenyans push for economic and social reforms, Wamuchomba’s stance sends a clear message—the era of tribal politics is over, and Kenya needs leaders who work for everyone.
