MPs Memusi Kanchory and Kakuta Maimai Push for School Feeding Program with Rockefeller Foundation

By John Kariuki
MP Memusi Kanchory and Hon. Kakuta Maimai have joined forces with the Rockefeller Foundation and the Uji for Schools Organization to champion a school feeding program aimed at combating child hunger and improving education outcomes.
Recognizing that hunger hampers learning, the legislators are working on sustainable strategies to provide nutritious meals to school children. “Education and nutrition go hand in hand. A hungry child cannot concentrate in class,” said MP Memusi, stressing the urgency of addressing food insecurity in schools.
Hon. Kakuta Maimai echoed his sentiments, reaffirming their shared commitment to ensuring that no child is forced to learn on an empty stomach.
The Rockefeller Foundation and Uji for Schools have played a key role in supporting school feeding initiatives, helping improve student well-being and academic performance. Their collaboration with the MPs marks a significant milestone in the fight against hunger, promising a healthier and more conducive learning environment for school children.
This initiative underscores the power of strategic partnerships in driving meaningful change and ensuring a brighter future for Kenya’s young learners.
