Speaking at the graduation ceremony held at Mtongwe Kenya Navy Headquarters, Chief of Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, praised the program for providing young people with practical skills essential for economic empowerment.

“This initiative goes beyond technical training—it equips participants with soft skills, financial literacy, and essential toolkits to enhance their employability,” General Kahariri said, pledging to expand the program to benefit more young people.

The program has now trained 201 beneficiaries across three cohorts, including dependents from the Kenya Army and Kenya Air Force. Family Bank CEO Nancy Njau highlighted the broader impact, stating that 87% of graduates have received National Construction Authority (NCA) accreditation, with many securing employment, joining the Kenya Defence Forces as skilled tradesmen, or venturing into entrepreneurship.

MWAK Chairperson Grace Kahariri noted the Kenya Navy’s contribution, co-sponsoring 50 of this cohort’s graduates. The three-month training, certified by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and NCA, is structured to create sustainable employment opportunities.

This initiative, part of the Tufuzu Youth Entrepreneurship Development Project, continues to transform lives, offering young Kenyans a pathway to economic independence and career growth.
