AGRA and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) have solidified a joint work plan aimed at deepening technical cooperation to drive inclusive agricultural transformation across Africa and the Americas. The collaboration comes at a crucial time as both regions prepare for major food systems and climate milestones, including COP30 in Brazil and the G20 Summit in South Africa.

AGRA, known for its work in smallholder farming transformation through partnerships with governments, private sector players, civil society, and farmers, will work alongside IICA, a specialized agency focused on rural development and technical agricultural cooperation in the Americas.

The partnership will prioritize key areas, including:
Improving rural livelihoods by supporting smallholder farmers with resources and training.
Boosting productivity and agricultural trade between Africa and the Americas.
Enhancing climate resilience by developing sustainable agrifood systems.
Promoting environmentally friendly agricultural practices to combat climate change.

By leveraging their strengths, AGRA and IICA aim to create sustainable agricultural solutions that benefit farmers, rural communities, and economies in both continents. This initiative is set to foster stronger trade links and ensure resilient food systems in the face of global climate challenges.
