Wamuchomba Demands Audit of KK Brigade’s Lavish Spending Amid Economic Strain

By John Kariuki
Githunguri MP Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba has raised sharp concerns over what she described as extravagant and unexplained public spending by the Kenya Kwanza (KK) political brigade, calling for immediate transparency and accountability.
In a bold statement, Wamuchomba claimed that more than KES 100 million was spent in a single day on political events held in Kilgoris, Githunguri, and Kiambaa, involving costly donations, luxury motorcades, and helicopters.
“Each MP flaunted wealth—choppers, limousines, and cash giveaways. The question is, where is this money coming from?” she asked.
The vocal lawmaker criticized the inconsistency between the government’s claims of financial hardship and the display of unchecked affluence by its top officials. “We’re dealing with delayed salaries, stalled projects, and unpaid suppliers. Yet leaders appear to have unlimited cash for political shows,” she said.
Wamuchomba, known for defying political conformity, called on investigative bodies and Parliament to initiate an audit into the source and usage of such funds.
Her remarks come at a time when Kenyans are grappling with economic hardship, rising costs of living, and ongoing concerns about government spending priorities.
The Githunguri MP urged the public to demand transparency, warning that unchecked extravagance erodes public trust. “We can’t ask Kenyans to tighten their belts while some leaders are flying around in choppers tossing around millions,” she stated.
Wamuchomba’s call is likely to fuel national debate on ethics in public office, the cost of politics, and the true state of government finances.
