KWS Boss Urges Kenyans to Explore Local Tourism Hotspots This Easter

Nairobi, Kenya – April 18, 2025
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Director General, Prof. Erustus Kanga, has urged Kenyans to use the Easter holiday to explore local destinations and support domestic tourism.
In a call to action issued Friday, Prof. Kanga encouraged citizens to take pride in the country’s rich landscapes, wildlife, and cultural diversity. “From the Rift Valley’s dramatic scenery to the Coast’s white sands, and from the cultural treasures of the West to our iconic national parks, Kenya has something for everyone,” he said.
He emphasized that domestic tourism is not just a leisure activity—it is an economic lifeline. With the tourism sector still recovering from the effects of COVID-19 and global economic challenges, local travel plays a vital role in supporting small businesses, tour operators, and communities dependent on tourism.
Prof. Kanga, known for his transformative leadership at KWS, continues to champion conservation efforts and promote Kenya’s natural heritage. His message this Easter is clear: by exploring our own backyard, Kenyans can fuel recovery, foster national pride, and help preserve the country’s diverse flora and fauna.
