Leah Sankaire Leads Grassroots Empowerment in Kajiado Through NGAAF

By John Kariuki
Kajiado County – Kajiado Woman Representative Leah Sankaire has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots development by championing transformative initiatives funded through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
At a public event in Kajiado, Sankaire showcased the impact of NGAAF by distributing tools like sewing machines, water tanks, and support packages for small businesses—empowering women, youth, and vulnerable communities.
The event attracted top national leaders, including National Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, Majority Whip Hon. Silvanus Osoro, Kajiado Central MP Hon. Elijah Memusi, and Vihiga Woman Rep Hon. Beatrice Adagala. Their attendance underscored the significance of NGAAF in driving national development.
“When we empower women and youth, we empower Kenya,” Sankaire said. “This is not charity; it’s an investment in the potential of our people.”
She raised concern over a Ksh 500 million budget cut to NGAAF, urging Parliament and the Executive to reinstate it. “Let’s not slow down the dreams of our people. Let’s build, not break,” she appealed.
Hon. Ichung’wah praised Sankaire’s leadership, calling Kajiado’s model worth replicating. Osoro and Adagala echoed the call for budget protection, especially amid economic hardships.
The event featured testimonials from beneficiaries, many of whom now run their own businesses—proof that NGAAF is changing lives.
Hon. Sankaire’s efforts illustrate that real change starts at the grassroots, through intentional investment and inclusive leadership.
