Suba South MP Caroli Omondi has delivered a searing critique of Kenya’s political culture, calling on leaders to ditch self-enrichment and prioritize service delivery. Speaking on Citizen TV’s Day Break, Omondi stressed that Africa’s economic stability hinges on responsible, people-centered leadership—something he says is glaringly absent in Kenya.

“African nations that are progressing have one thing in common—leaders who serve their people, not themselves,” he noted.

The legislator decried the trend of politics as a shortcut to wealth, warning that this mentality continues to erode public trust and stall development.

“In Kenya, many pursue office for personal gain, not public service. That’s why we’re stuck in cycles of poor governance,” he said.

Omondi’s remarks come amid growing public discontent over corruption, rising inequality, and a perceived disconnect between citizens and their leaders. He urged colleagues in Parliament to reorient their focus toward tangible community impact.

“Leadership should not be about flashy convoys or populist gestures. It’s about how many lives you uplift,” he asserted.

Framing his message as both a critique and a call to action, Omondi urged a transition from entitlement-driven politics to servant leadership, where public office is treated as a platform for transformation—not privilege.

As Kenya battles economic pressures and governance challenges, Omondi’s candid appeal underscores a growing demand for accountable, ethical leadership. His voice is quickly emerging as a bold advocate for reform within the political establishment—one urging leaders to serve, not rule.
