Githunguri MP Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba has launched a Youth in Agriculture Advisory Council, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at inspiring a generational shift in agribusiness and shaping youth-centered agricultural policy.

The council will consist of 50 high-performing young agripreneurs under the age of 35, each earning at least KES 500,000 monthly from ventures in farming, value addition, agri-tech, or distribution. These young leaders will mentor peers and advise on future governance strategies targeting youth inclusion in agriculture.

“We must make agribusiness attractive to Kenyan youth,” said Wamuchomba. “Agriculture should no longer be seen as a fallback but a first-choice career.”

Through the council, the MP seeks to spark a national movement that rebrands agriculture as a modern, lucrative path for youth, while contributing to food security and economic growth. Applicants meeting the criteria are encouraged to contact Hon. Wamuchomba directly with supporting evidence of their ventures.

At a time of high youth unemployment, this bold move positions Wamuchomba as a leader in innovative policy thinking and youth empowerment.
