Mombasa Woman Representative Hon. Zamzam Mohamed has voiced strong opposition to the recent KSh 500 million budget cut to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), warning it threatens vital support for vulnerable groups across Kenya.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Hon. Zamzam stressed that NGAAF is a critical lifeline for women, youth, and persons with disabilities. “Slashing this fund is not just a financial cut; it is a direct blow to the most disadvantaged in our society,” she said.

She appealed to President William Ruto to urgently intervene by consulting with Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u to reinstate the full funding. “The consequences of this cut will be felt deeply at the grassroots. I urge the President to act swiftly,” she added.

Hon. Zamzam joins a growing number of Woman Representatives raising concerns that the cuts undermine efforts to promote social inclusion, economic empowerment, and community development.

Established to advance affirmative action initiatives, NGAAF funds programs in education, health, and economic empowerment for marginalized groups—programs now at risk if the cuts are not reversed.
