Ngong Hills, May 2, 2025In a striking show of commitment to sustainability, Eng. Margaret Ogai, Registrar and CEO of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), joined engineers, students, and local residents in a high-impact tree planting exercise at Ngong Hills today. The event forms part of national efforts to tackle climate change and promote environmental resilience ahead of the Engineering Partnerships Convention 2025 (EPC2025).

Dressed for the terrain and equipped with resolve, Eng. Ogai’s hands-on participation reinforced the growing expectation for engineering leaders to drive both infrastructural and ecological progress.

“This is more than a symbolic act—it’s a call to action,” Eng. Ogai declared. “As engineers, we design the future, and that future must be green, inclusive, and resilient.”

The tree planting initiative precedes EPC2025, which will take place from 7th to 9th May 2025 at The Edge Convention Centre, Nairobi. Themed “Engineering a Digital World,” the convention aims to bridge innovation with sustainability. It will feature experts from academia, industry, and government, and will award 20 Professional Development Units (PDUs) to participants.

The synergy between the Ngong Hills event and the upcoming convention highlights engineering’s dual mission: embracing digital transformation while stewarding environmental responsibility.

“By planting trees today, we not only combat climate change but set the tone for the meaningful conversations and strategies to come at EPC2025,” Eng. Ogai added.

EPC2025 promises to be a landmark event, offering both in-person and virtual participation. It invites engineers across the country to engage in shaping a smarter, greener Kenya.
