Ruiru MP Simon King’ara is pushing for the constitutional entrenchment of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), calling it a vital tool for grassroots development and accountability.

In a move aimed at securing long-term stability for local funding mechanisms, King’ara has launched a series of public participation forums across Ruiru to gather residents’ views on a proposed constitutional amendment. The amendment seeks to anchor the NG-CDF, the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), and the Senate Oversight Fund in the Constitution.

“These funds are not just budgets—they are the backbone of community development. Entrenching them will shield them from political and legal uncertainties,” said King’ara.

The MP urged residents to actively contribute to the national dialogue, emphasizing that public input is key to building a more accountable and inclusive development framework. He added that formalizing these funds in the Constitution will ensure better planning, transparency, and delivery of services across constituencies.

The NG-CDF has played a central role in financing education, infrastructure, and healthcare projects at the constituency level. King’ara’s initiative signals a growing push among lawmakers to give the fund legal permanence amid past legal challenges and budgetary uncertainties.

By rooting development funds in the Constitution, King’ara says communities like Ruiru can be assured of continued progress without disruption.
