Bolt and Absa Bank Kenya Equip 100 Nairobi Drivers with Financial Literacy Skills

Nairobi, 8th May 2025 – In a move to strengthen financial resilience among gig economy workers, Bolt and Absa Bank Kenya have partnered to train 100 drivers in Nairobi on key financial management skills.
The workshop focused on practical topics such as budgeting, saving, and managing daily cash flow—essential tools for drivers who earn daily through mobile money and cash.
“Drivers are the backbone of our platform,” said Dimmy Kanyankole, Bolt’s General Manager for Kenya and Tanzania. “This training is about equipping them with real-world financial knowledge to build long-term stability.”
Absa’s Elizabeth Irungu echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that financial inclusion begins with education. “We aim to support drivers’ ambitions by promoting discipline in money management—one story at a time,” she said.
The initiative is set to expand to other cities like Mombasa, as part of Bolt’s broader commitment to uplift drivers through training, welfare support, and vehicle financing.
With rising economic pressures, the training aims to steer drivers toward financial independence and sustainable growth, aligning with the wider goal of building a financially empowered workforce.
