MSEA CEO Henry Rithaa Champions Micro and Small Enterprise Growth at Ministerial Performance Review Retreat

The Chief Executive Officer of the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), Mr. Henry Rithaa, joined Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, Dr. Hon. Wycliffe A. Oparanya, EGH, at the ongoing Ministerial Performance Review Retreat. Also in attendance were Principal Secretaries Hon. Susan Mang’eni (State Department for MSMEs Development) and Mr. Patrick Kilemi, along with heads of Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs) and senior departmental officials.

The retreat, convened to evaluate the Ministry’s performance over the past year, provides a strategic platform to align institutional efforts, enhance inter-agency coordination, and prioritize key interventions for the upcoming fiscal cycle.

In his remarks, Mr. Rithaa reiterated MSEA’s steadfast commitment to advancing the growth and resilience of micro and small enterprises (MSEs). He highlighted the Authority’s focused programs and policy initiatives aimed at empowering entrepreneurs, supporting business formalization, and improving access to markets and financing.

“MSEs are the backbone of our economy. At MSEA, we are deliberate in our strategies to unlock their potential and integrate them fully into Kenya’s formal economic framework,” said Mr. Rithaa.

He also shared recent milestones achieved under MSEA’s mandate, including progress in enterprise development, capacity building, and the expansion of the Nyota Program, which focuses on youth entrepreneurship.

The retreat signals a renewed drive by the Ministry to boost the MSME sector as a key pillar of inclusive economic transformation, job creation, and sustainable development for millions of Kenyans.
