Mwea, Kenya — Mwea MP Hon. Mary Maingi has taken a decisive step to bolster education access in her constituency by launching the distribution of bursary cheques to day secondary schools.

A team from her office visited 20 schools—including Rurii, Gitooni, Kangure, Komboini, Nyaga, Nguka, and Kiamanyeki—to deliver much-needed financial support, directly easing the burden of school fees for thousands of students.

“This initiative is part of our broader goal to ensure that no child is left behind because of school fees,” said Hon. Maingi. “Education remains at the heart of our development agenda, and we are committed to making it accessible and equitable for all.”

The bursary program, a core pillar of her #NyoroshaMwea development plan, aims to empower families and solidify the constituency’s educational foundation. With many households grappling with economic challenges, this support provides a vital lifeline.

Hon. Maingi emphasized that this was just the beginning of her efforts to transform Mwea. “We will continue investing in our youth because they are the future of this great constituency,” she added.

Stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and school administrators, have praised the MP’s commitment to education and her proactive approach to community development
