Sakaja Warned Against Retaining Retiring Muguna As Nairobi Water MD

In Summary
- Muguna to attain the age of 60 on 28th May 2025.
- Court stopped attempt Nairobi Water Board to extend his tenure.
Okoa Kenya Movement has now warned Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja against any skewed route to have Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Nahashon Muguna stay in office beyond his retirement age.
According to the Organization Sakaja has been convolving in corrupt deals the latest being the “Mexico Deal” with support of Muguna and that there are signs he wants him to retain the MD post past retirement.
“We have information that Sakaja has so many pending dirty deals with Muguna and his major worry is how he will execute the same without this corrupt retiring MD.” Okombo Mika said in a statement.
They have asked Sakaja to obey Justice Hellen Wasilwa decision and let Muguna proceed to retirement.
“He was sent home by our Courts and it is also clear that he has attained mandatory retirement age of 60 and that should be respected anything to do with extension is therefore null and void.” He added.
Court Decision
According to Hon Justice Wasilwa renewal or extension of term of appointment does not warrant taking a candidate through competitive process.
On the question of reappointment beyond the age of 60years, the Hon. Judge found that the company had not proved that Muguna possesses rare skills which are not readily available in the market to warrant such an extension beyond the age of 60 years.
