Kenya National Police DT SACCO and NPSC Equip Officers for a Secure Retirement

The Kenya National Police DT SACCO, in partnership with the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), successfully hosted a two-day Pre-Retirement Training Program. The initiative, held from May 20th to 21st, 2025, at the College of Insurance in South C, aimed at preparing 150 police officers aged 50 to 60 from the Nairobi region for a smooth and dignified transition into retirement.
Recognizing the magnitude of retirement as a life-changing transition, the SACCO designed the program to equip officers with essential financial knowledge and practical tools. Key topics covered included:

In his address, Mr. Solomon Atsiaya, CEO of Kenya National Police DT SACCO, emphasized the SACCO’s long-term commitment to member welfare:
“Our mission extends beyond active service. We are here to ensure that every police officer is not only financially literate but also financially secure throughout retirement.”
As part of its contribution, the SACCO provided financial advisory services and showcased a range of financial products tailored to the needs of members nearing retirement. This initiative reflects a broader vision of empowering police officers to maintain financial resilience and personal stability beyond their active years of service.
Training facilitators included experts from the Retirement Benefits Authority and the National Treasury Pension Department, bringing additional insights into retirement planning and resource management.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Peter Leley, CEO of the National Police Service Commission, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting officers through the transition process:
“This training will help our officers retire well—with clarity, confidence, and purpose,” he said.
