Nairobi, Kenya – Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, EGH, added her voice and presence to the “Taste of France” dinner experience in Nairobi, celebrating the artistry of French cuisine and its global influence on the hospitality industry.
Hosted by the French Embassy, the event offered more than gourmet delights — it became a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, culinary innovation, and the celebration of hospitality’s universal language. Quoting Maya Angelou, CS Miano remarked, “I am just someone who likes cooking and for whom sharing food is a form of expression,” underlining the profound role of food in connecting people and cultures.
Miano highlighted that French cuisine embodies not just flavor but a philosophy of hospitality that embraces diversity, creativity, and heritage. She emphasized that events like these enrich Kenya’s culinary landscape and raise standards in the country’s tourism and hospitality sector.
In her remarks, Miano reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for institutions dedicated to shaping the next generation of hospitality leaders. She specifically lauded Kenya Utalii College, International Hotel and Tourism Institute, Boma International Hospitality College, and PCEA Kinyanjui Training Institute for their pivotal roles in advancing excellence in hospitality education.
“By blending local talent with international inspiration, Kenya is poised to become a continental hub for culinary arts, hospitality innovation, and tourism excellence,” she said.
The evening served not only as a showcase of French culinary mastery but also as a catalyst for strategic dialogue on partnerships, training, and cultural exchange — essential pillars for Kenya’s evolving tourism landscape.
As the night concluded with a shared sense of optimism, CS Miano’s presence symbolized a broader vision: one where hospitality is not merely an industry, but a celebration of identity, talent, and the shared human experience.
