Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, has called on newly inducted Foreign Service Cadets to lead Kenya’s diplomatic future with innovation, patriotism, and purpose.
Speaking at the induction of cadets deployed to the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, PS Njogu described the young diplomats as key players in advancing Kenya’s foreign policy in a fast-changing global landscape.
“You are the face of Kenya abroad. The success of our foreign policy depends on your ability to bring bold ideas, modern thinking, and solutions to the table,” she said.
Highlighting diaspora diplomacy as a cornerstone of Kenya’s international agenda, Njogu urged the cadets to champion the interests of Kenyans living abroad and link foreign opportunities to local development.
She encouraged them to adopt digital tools and AI in diplomacy and to align their work with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. “We want results-driven diplomats who see beyond protocol and focus on strategic impact,” she added.
Ambassador Patrick Wamoto, Acting Director General of the Foreign Service Academy, emphasized the training’s role in retooling and reskilling diplomats for 21st-century challenges.
Other senior officials in attendance included Dr. PWC K’Angira, Director of HRM and Development; Mr. Glenns Etyang, Deputy Director of Operations; and Mr. John Jogo, Deputy Director of HRM and Development.
The induction marks a major step toward building a dynamic foreign service corps—equipped to represent Kenya with professionalism, agility, and a deep sense of national service.
