Margaret Kenyatta to Graduates: Use Your Talents to Build a Better World

Former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has urged graduating students to channel their talents and education into making a positive impact on the world.
Speaking at Brookhouse School’s 17th graduation ceremony at the Karen Campus, where 170 students graduated, Kenyatta praised the Class of 2025 for their academic achievements and reminded them that true success lies in service to others.
“You have learned to leverage your talents not just for personal gain, but to build a better world,” she said. “Use your brilliant minds to make a real difference.”
More than 40% of this year’s graduates earned scholarships to top global universities, a testament to the class’s academic strength. Kenyatta described them as a bold generation poised to challenge the status quo and confront global issues with courage and innovation.
She credited Brookhouse School’s holistic learning model and its Round Square values for nurturing critical thinking, empathy, and respect for diversity. She also applauded the graduates’ involvement in environmental and community service efforts.
“Go forth and shine,” she concluded. “Wherever life takes you, let your light transform the world.”
United Nations Nairobi Director-General Zainab Bangura echoed the call to action, urging the graduates to lead with purpose: “You have the tools, the confidence, and the resilience. There’s nothing you can’t achieve.”
Brookhouse Director John O’Connor offered the parting challenge: “You are now the authors of your own story. Choose wisely. Live purposefully.”
The ceremony, attended by faculty, families, and dignitaries, marked a proud moment for graduates stepping into the next chapter—with inspiration, confidence, and a call to lead change.
