Nairobi, Kenya – June 2025

The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) has commended the Kenya Institute of Supplies Examination Board (KISEB) for its remarkable decade of service in advancing professional certification and skills recognition in Kenya’s supply chain sector.

During KISEB’s 5th Certificate Award Ceremony held last week, KNQA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alice Kande, joined other dignitaries and stakeholders in marking the Board’s 10-year milestone since its inaugural examination in 2015. Over 750 candidates were recognized for achieving full or partial qualifications in the Certified Procurement and Supply Professional of Kenya (CPSP-K) and Associate Procurement and Supplies (APS-K) certifications.

Dr. Kande lauded KISEB’s contribution to professional development in Kenya, especially through the implementation of forward-looking reforms such as the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework. The RPL initiative allows individuals to receive formal recognition for skills and knowledge acquired outside traditional academic settings—particularly vital in a rapidly evolving workforce.

“KISEB’s efforts speak to the core of Kenya’s transformation agenda. By validating both formal and informal learning, the Board is helping to bridge skill gaps and create more inclusive pathways to professional growth,” said Dr. Kande.

KISEB’s digitization of examination systems and continuous enhancement of curriculum relevance were also highlighted as critical steps in improving access, efficiency, and global competitiveness in professional training.

As the national custodian of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF) and the National Qualifications Database, KNQA reiterated its support for institutions like KISEB that uphold quality and equity in the certification of skills and knowledge.

“Our mandate is to ensure that all learning—regardless of where or how it occurs—is recognized, validated, and translated into opportunity. We are proud to support KISEB and other bodies that align with this national vision,” Dr. Kande noted.

KNQA reaffirmed its commitment to deepening partnerships across the education and training sector to implement a harmonized qualifications framework, empower professionals, and promote lifelong learning for all Kenyans.

The event marked a significant chapter in Kenya’s journey toward a more dynamic, inclusive, and skills-driven economy.
