Naivasha Hosts Kenya Urban Forum as Ruto Calls for Cities that Work for All

Naivasha, June 17, 2025 — The Second Kenya Urban Forum opened Monday with President William Ruto urging leaders to build inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities that fuel Kenya’s economic growth.
Held under the theme “Driving Kenya’s Vision for Urban Transformation,” the forum brings together national and county leaders, urban planners, and development partners to tackle rapid urbanization, housing gaps, and smart infrastructure.
“The future is urban,” President Ruto declared, calling city transformation essential—not optional—for national progress.
Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Housing, Alice Wahome, echoed the call for people-centered urban planning. “Our cities must deliver dignity, opportunity, and resilience for all Kenyans,” she said.
The forum aims to reshape urban policy around innovation, collaboration, and sustainability—critical as Kenya’s towns and cities grow at record pace.
With urban areas poised to anchor the country’s development agenda, the Kenya Urban Forum is pushing a bold shift: cities not just as places to live, but as engines of economic and social transformation.
