PS Charles Hinga Urges Kenyans Abroad to Invest in Affordable Housing via Boma Yangu

Nairobi, June 23, 2025 — Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Charles Hinga is calling on Kenyans living abroad to seize the opportunity to invest in the government’s Affordable Housing Program through the secure and structured Boma Yangu platform.
Speaking during a session with the Diaspora Technical Working Group, Hinga emphasized the government’s push to integrate diaspora contributions into national development. He assured Kenyans abroad that Boma Yangu offers a transparent, fraud-free channel for owning homes in Kenya.
“This is a government-led initiative that protects your money and ensures your investment results in actual, affordable housing,” he said.
PS Hinga also encouraged diaspora Kenyans to explore retirement village investments, noting their potential as long-term residential options with financial and social benefits.
Additionally, Hinga revealed plans for a diaspora bond, which will allow Kenyans overseas to invest in housing and infrastructure projects while earning returns in a safe and impactful way.
The engagement is part of a wider government strategy to build trust and offer secure, transparent pathways for diaspora investments in Kenya’s growth agenda.
“Your contribution matters. We’re creating credible platforms to make your investment in Kenya count—for you and for the nation,” Hinga affirmed.
