Nairobi, June 26, 2025 — For Dr. Jyotee Trivedy, an ophthalmologist by profession and now a first-time author, the road to publishing her memoir wasn’t paved with ease—but with resilience, reflection, and raw human emotion.

Her book was born from the heartbreak of telling patients, “I can’t help you see again,” despite their desperate pleas. “The world is so beautiful—they deserve to see it too,” she says, recalling the weight of her profession. That emotional burden became the spark for her deeply personal narrative.

Though skilled in science and academic writing, Dr. Trivedy had never penned a personal story. She began by working with an African writer who tragically passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. After several rejections, she decided: I’ll write it myself.

That decision launched a three-year journey of late nights balancing medical duties, family life, and self-doubt. “There were times I questioned everything,” she recalls. A draft completed in November didn’t satisfy her, so she enrolled in a writing course in the UK and revised the book entirely by February.

Before publishing, she asked her therapist, Anne, for honest feedback: “Does this book inspire you?” The answer was yes.

Her message is simple yet powerful: “Persevere. No one truly fails at life until they stop trying.”

She champions humility, listening, and lifelong learning, stating that leadership has no room for ego. On AI in medicine, she’s hopeful but cautious—embracing the benefits while reminding the world: “No machine can replace the human connection in healing.”

Dr. Trivedy’s story is more than a memoir. It’s a testament to the human spirit, a call to keep rising after every fall, and a reminder that vision is more than sight—it’s purpose.
