NLC’s Kabale Tache Arero Calls for United Front to Resolve Land Disputes and Speed Up Infrastructure Projects

Naivasha, June 23, 2025 — National Land Commission (NLC) Commissioner Kabale Tache Arero has urged key infrastructure and legal agencies to collaborate more closely in order to tackle persistent challenges in land acquisition and dispute resolution.
Speaking at the Multi-Agency Legal Coordination Workshop at Sawela Lodges, Arero emphasized that fragmented legal approaches and delayed responses have cost taxpayers and stalled major infrastructure projects.
“The rising volume of land-related litigation is slowing down development and denying Kenyans critical services,” Arero said, echoing sentiments recently shared by President William Ruto.
The workshop brought together legal and technical teams from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), and the NLC under the theme: “Building Synergies for Efficient Land Acquisition and Dispute Resolution.”
Arero announced plans for a harmonized legal defense strategy, proactive risk management, and early dispute detection to prevent unnecessary litigation. She stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination, shared legal frameworks, and accountability in safeguarding public resources.
“This forum is a call to action. Through joint planning and shared responsibility, we can deliver transformative projects faster and more transparently,” she added.
The NLC reaffirmed its commitment to streamlining land governance and building a more responsive system as Kenya advances its national development goals.
