Gender PS Ann Wangombe Uplifts Widows in Nyeri with Post-Women’s Day Outreach

Nyeri, June 26, 2025 — Gender Principal Secretary Ann Wangombe has reaffirmed her commitment to grassroots empowerment with a compassionate outreach to widows in Nyeri County, providing blankets and mattresses as part of a post-International Women’s Day support initiative.
Speaking during the visit, PS Wangombe said the gesture was more than a donation — it was a message of solidarity, dignity, and inclusion. “These women have endured personal loss but continue to anchor their families and communities. They must not be forgotten,” she stated.
The support program, aligned with the Ministry’s wider social protection agenda, focuses on uplifting marginalized women through practical interventions and emotional support. Wangombe also met with local women leaders to discuss sustainable empowerment strategies for vulnerable groups, especially widows.
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation, saying the assistance eased their daily struggles and offered a sense of visibility and care.
PS Wangombe has become known for blending policy with presence, making a direct impact in communities while advancing gender equity at the national level. Her visit to Nyeri further cements her role as a hands-on leader dedicated to reaching the forgotten corners of society.
