MSEA Boss Henry Rithaa Empowers Tailoring Students in Busia
Busia, Kenya – June 26, 2025 — Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Director General Henry Rithaa has launched a key empowerment drive for tailoring students in Samia Sub County, Busia, aiming to boost skills and market readiness.
In partnership with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and Auki Textiles, the initiative targets students in vocational and technical institutes, offering training on industry standards, quality assurance, and emerging market trends.
Rithaa emphasized the importance of bridging classroom learning with real-world enterprise. “We’re not just training tailors; we’re preparing competitive entrepreneurs ready for local and global markets,” he said.
The program includes sensitization on national and international quality benchmarks, helping young tailors align their products with market expectations. It also encourages hands-on learning and business acumen, promoting self-reliance and job creation.
Under Rithaa’s leadership, MSEA has been lauded for consistently aligning training programs with market demands. Stakeholders praised the DG for fostering strategic partnerships and building a robust support ecosystem for micro and small enterprises.
“Empowering youth with practical skills is the cornerstone of sustainable development,” Rithaa noted.
The initiative is part of MSEA’s broader mission to transform Kenya’s informal sector into a structured, competitive economy. In Busia and across the country, Rithaa is being recognized as a driving force behind real change in youth entrepreneurship.
