Nairobi, June 26, 2025 — South B MCA Waithera Chege has launched a strong community-led response to rising cases of child abuse, including defilement and sodomy, in her ward.

The alarming trend, including a recent case where a 40-year-old man lured a boy using explicit content, has shaken families. In response, Chege convened a multi-stakeholder forum bringing together parents, teachers, police, and human rights groups.

“Our children deserve safety and dignity,” she declared. “I will walk with every affected family until justice is served.”

FIDA Kenya pledged free legal support for victims, with advocate Elizabeth Mwaniki warning against protecting perpetrators: “Shielding abusers is enabling the crime.”

OCS Mohamed Nuur urged residents to embrace community policing and report early signs of abuse. FIDA also launched a public education drive on legal rights, reporting mechanisms, and stigma reduction.

Chege pledged to back the legal process while championing safe spaces, mentorship programs, and long-term prevention strategies. Her calm but firm leadership is winning trust and galvanizing action in South B.

In a time of crisis, Hon. Waithera Chege is emerging not just as a leader—but as a protector of Nairobi’s most vulnerable.
