MD Philip Mainga on Spot for Funding, Mobilizing Protesters

Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga has been condemned over allegations of funding goons to infiltrate peaceful protests by Gen Zs.
Addressing the Press outside the Kenya National Archives, Youths led by Francis Muchunu have called out Mainga for funding protesters with the aim of destabilizing the government.
“We are alarmed that Mainga has been involved in the funding of demonstrators with the aim of destabilizing the government,” Muchunu stated during the briefing.
According to Muchunu, Mainga is actively involved in funding and coordinating tomorrow’s Sabasaba demonstrators undermining the President William Ruto administration.
The faction has called on the President to immediately suspend Mainga or initiate his dismissal over gross misconduct and abuse of office.
“We call upon President William Ruto to initiate the removal process for Mainga over his abuse of office,” he stated.
This is even as they called the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the misconduct adding that they are ready to share details over the same.
“The DCI should launch investigations into this and ensure that he is charged in a law court,” he added.
This comes after allegations have been there of some state officials misusing public funds to fund protesters who have been destabilizing the government.
This is even as a few days ago, a petition had been filed seeking the removal of Mainga from office over funding of goons to destabilize protests.
The petition is before the High Court in Nairobi.
