Civil Society Reference Group CSRG has now condemned the police brutality and excessive use of force witnessed during Sabasaba protest yesterday.

According to Civil Society Reference Group president David Caleb Otieno the police violated the Constitution by not allowing people to express themselves as prescribed in Articles 33 and 37 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

“The main role of police in a demonstration is to provide security during demonstration. They cannot claim that they were dealing with criminals that is a blanket statement that we cannot buy. What was met on Kenyans yesterday can only happen in a banana republic and we must remind the government that the buck stops with them. All life lost must be accounted for.” He said.

Police says 11 people lost their lives with over 500 arrested in connection with Sabasaba demos.

“We need justice to our people and we are also warning the political class who hijacked the Gen-Z revolution that your days are numbered. You are known and Kenyans will not be easily hoodwinked with your political con games.’’ David added.
