Women Leaders Unite in Marsabit for Groundbreaking Wezesha Mama Inua Jamii Forum

Marsabit County, Kenya — Marsabit made history this week as it hosted the Wezesha Mama Inua Jamii Forum in Moyale, bringing together over 25 women legislators from across Kenya in a bold and unified call to uplift women and girls through policy, advocacy, and grassroots action.
The event, hosted by Hon. Naomi Waqo, Marsabit County Woman Representative, focused on advancing gender equity, ending harmful practices, combating poverty, and expanding social and economic opportunities for women nationwide.
“We came together not just to speak, but to act,” said Hon. Waqo. “From Moyale to Migori, the future must be inclusive.”
Hon. Faith Gitau (Nyandarua County) served as Guest of Honour, calling on women leaders to use their collective influence to shape legislation and accelerate national change.
The high-powered delegation included Hon. Esther Passaris, Hon. Liz Kailemia, Hon. Dr. Adagala, Hon. Liza Chelule, Hon. Jane Kagiri, Hon. Catherine Omanyo, Hon. Real Kaswai, Hon. Pauline Lenguris, Hon. Jerusha Momanyi, among others.
Discussions centered on tackling gender-based violence, enhancing access to reproductive healthcare, youth empowerment, and boosting female representation in leadership.
Community members engaged directly with leaders in dialogue sessions, marking a turning point for local women and girls who said they now feel seen, heard, and supported.
