A Milimani Commercial Court has ordered Nakuru businessman Gideon Gethaiga Wambugu to pay an initial installment of Ksh 1.2 million in a Ksh 3.3 million diesel fraud case.

This follows his arrest by detectives after a warrant was issued against him for disobeying a previous court order.

While releasing him, Magistrate Hon. Okello directed that Wambugu be freed upon signing a personal bond of Ksh 200,000, pending full settlement of the outstanding amount.

Hon. Okello further warned that Wambugu would be committed to civil jail if he fails to comply with the payment directive.

In the case, complainant Edwin Kimutahi Songoroh told the court that Wambugu had entered into an agreement with him for the supply of diesel worth Ksh 3 million, which he failed to pay for, prompting legal action.

The matter will be mentioned again in court on August 25, 2025, for further directions.
