Limuru, Kiambu County — Former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi has lauded the growing wave of youth leadership in Kiambu County, describing it as a powerful sign of Kenya’s brighter future.
Mwathi, known for championing youth empowerment during his tenure, expressed pride in the young leaders he mentored, many of whom are now taking active roles in community service and grassroots governance across Limuru town.
“There’s no greater fulfillment for a leader than to witness the next generation stepping up,” Mwathi said. “These young men and women are not just participating — they’re leading with purpose, integrity, and vision.”
Speaking from the United States, where he is currently based, Mwathi said he continues to follow developments at home closely and remains inspired by the boldness and energy of Limuru’s youth. He credited his mentorship programs and leadership forums for creating a culture of civic responsibility among young people.
He emphasized that nurturing future leaders was always a core part of his mission in public service. “If we want to build a more inclusive and prosperous Kenya, we must invest in our youth. Leadership is not just about age — it’s about values,” he added.
Mwathi reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives, promising to work with both local and international partners to keep opportunities open for young leaders in Kenya.
His message comes at a time when the country is increasingly recognizing the critical role of youth in shaping policy, governance, and sustainable development.
