“This is not just a pipeline. It’s a promise fulfilled—a bold step toward dignity, health, and development,” Governor Jama declared, addressing jubilant locals, national leaders, and development partners during the launch ceremony.

The Sh300 million project comprises three boreholes, a 48km pipeline, two booster stations, 225,000-liter storage tanks, and multiple public water points. Once operational, the system will benefit over 2,000 households, two schools, and two health facilities, easing the region’s chronic water crisis.

The governor emphasized that access to clean water is no longer a luxury but a basic right, especially in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) like Garissa. “This is about transforming livelihoods, protecting public health, and unlocking economic opportunities,” he said.

Dignitaries present included PS for ASAL Harsama Kello, PS Maritime Affairs Eng. Adan Abdi Millah, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Garissa Senator Abdul Haji, MPs Abdikadir Hussein and Maj. Dekow Barrow.

Governor Jama reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering focus on sustainable water infrastructure, urging continued partnership from government agencies and donors. “Water is the foundation of peace and progress. We’re not stopping here,” he vowed.

The launch signals hope for a better tomorrow, as families who once trekked for hours now look forward to turning taps—right at their doorsteps.
