Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule has thrown her full weight behind community-led development efforts, applauding SHOFCO for its grassroots impact during the grand opening of the Kaloleni SHOFCO Community Centre.

Lauding the leadership of SHOFCO CEO Dr. Kennedy Odede, Chibule said the Centre marks a pivotal step in bridging service delivery gaps in rural Kilifi. “This is more than a building—it’s a gateway to opportunity,” she declared.

A centerpiece of the launch was SHOFCO’s game-changing initiative, ‘Turejeshe Watoto Shule’, which has seen over 1,500 vulnerable children in Kilifi County enrolled back in school. Deputy Governor Chibule praised the program as a direct investment in Kilifi’s future, linking education access to long-term poverty reduction and economic empowerment.

“SHOFCO is walking the talk. They are showing us what partnership, innovation, and compassion can do,” she noted, pledging Kilifi County’s full support for education, healthcare, and empowerment initiatives spearheaded by community partners.

The Kaloleni Community Centre will serve as a vital hub offering education, healthcare, youth and women development programs, all under one roof — a model Chibule said reflects Kilifi’s vision for equitable and inclusive growth.

Her powerful message resonated with residents and leaders alike: “No child should be left behind. No woman should be sidelined. And no youth should be forgotten.”

The event sent a clear signal — Kilifi County is ready to walk hand-in-hand with civil society to uplift every corner of the community.
