Nyatike MP Hon. Tom Odege has applauded the national government’s bold economic empowerment drive in Migori County, citing it as a major step toward transforming the lives of ordinary Kenyans.
Speaking at the Economic Empowerment Engagement forum in Migori, Hon. Odege hailed flagship projects like the construction of 26 modern fresh produce and fish markets—each set to include ICT hubs aimed at promoting e-commerce and digital opportunities for the youth.
“These initiatives are not just about buildings—they are about dignity, opportunity, and a new dawn for our people,” Hon. Odege said.
He spotlighted a major KSh 300 million last-mile electricity connectivity project in Nyatike, which will connect over 3,000 homes to the power grid. According to him, this is a game-changer for households, students, and small businesses in the area.
The MP also praised the government’s inclusive development model that cuts across political, ethnic, and religious lines, saying it marks a shift from politics to real service delivery.
The event drew national heavyweights including Treasury CS John Mbadi, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, Governors Ochilo Ayacko (Migori) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, and Minority Leader Junet Mohammed.
Hon. Odege reaffirmed his commitment to work with both county and national governments to ensure Nyatike fully benefits from available resources. “Together, we’re creating an economy where every family can thrive,” he concluded.
The message was clear: development has arrived, and the people of Nyatike are ready to rise with it.
