Educationist and environmental advocate Dr. Faith Mwaura, a Board Member of the Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) and a respected leader in Roysambu, has reaffirmed her commitment to sustainable development by leading a tree-planting initiative at GSU High School in Roysambu constituency. The event, marking the school’s second anniversary, saw the planting of 300 trees within the school compound.

Speaking to a gathering of teachers, parents, students, and community members, Dr. Mwaura underscored the interconnection between education and environmental conservation. “When we invest in schools and simultaneously protect our environment, we are nurturing both young minds and the planet they will inherit. Today’s tree planting exercise is symbolic of growth, resilience, and long-term impact,” she remarked.

Dr. Mwaura emphasized that tree planting goes beyond beautifying school grounds—it also creates healthier learning environments by improving air quality, offering shade, and mitigating climate change effects. “Our children deserve to learn in green, vibrant, and healthy spaces. These trees will act as a living classroom, enhancing environmental education and leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come,” she added.

She also commended the remarkable progress of GSU Primary School within just two years, applauding the dedication of its teachers and administrators in delivering academic excellence and instilling discipline. Pledging her continued support, Dr. Mwaura called on parents and the community to remain actively involved in shaping the school’s development.

The anniversary celebration saw enthusiastic participation from students, who joined in the tree planting exercise while learning about environmental stewardship. Teachers and parents echoed appreciation for the initiative, recognizing its value in enriching both education and community engagement.

“A great school is not only measured by exam results but by the values it instills in its learners. Today, we’ve planted more than trees—we’ve planted dreams, resilience, and a sense of responsibility,” Dr. Mwaura concluded.
