PCEA Karuri Imani Church has stepped up its conservation campaign with a tree planting initiative targeting key public spaces in Banana Township, Kiambaa Constituency.

Led by Elder Jane Kamutu, Patron of the church’s Justice, Peace and Reconciliation Committee (JPRC), congregants took action by planting trees at the Njiku Chief’s office and Karuri Police Station, reaffirming their commitment to creating greener, cleaner, and healthier communities.

“Environmental conservation is a moral responsibility. As a church, we are called to care for creation,” said Elder Kamutu, as she watered a freshly planted tree, joined by fellow congregants Mrs. Jemimah Matindi and Mr. Charles Ngugi.

The initiative follows a successful clean-up exercise in Banana Township last month, cementing the church’s role as a force for grassroots change beyond the pulpit.

The JPRC-led efforts directly support Kenya’s national agenda of increasing forest cover and tackling climate change, proving that climate action starts at the community level.

By integrating faith with environmental action, PCEA Karuri Imani Church is setting an inspiring example of how spiritual institutions can lead the charge in environmental transformation.

As tree by tree and cleanup by cleanup take root, this church is sending a powerful message: Caring for the Earth is a sacred duty—and everyone has a part to play.
