County Assembly of Kakamega Approves 13 Chief Officer Nominees

The County Assembly of Kakamega has approved 13 nominees to the position of Chief Officer, following a rigorous vetting exercise conducted last week by various sectoral committees.
During the plenary session, members adopted all vetting reports tabled—except that of the Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Committee, whose report on Eng. Joseph Sweta was excluded from debate due to a court order. The injunction, issued by a Kakamega court, bars the Assembly from discussing the report pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The ten sectoral committees that presented reports cited the nominees’ academic credentials, technical expertise, leadership abilities, integrity, and proven track records as key considerations in their recommendations.
The approved Chief Officers and their respective dockets are:
- Rose Muhanda – Public Health Services
- Seth Musumba – Cooperative Development
- Ansein Lubonga – Education, Science and Technology
- Christine Oside – Social and Children Services, Gender and Culture
- Lawrance Mukoyani – Youth, Sports and Library Services
- Eng. Ishmael Makanga – Lands, Administration, Survey and Housing
- Issack Maalim – Technical Services Unit
- Henry Marende – Special Programmes
- Samwel Limisi – Economic Planning and Investments
- Mildred Okwako – Communications and e-Government
- Suleiman Wanekeya – ICT
- CPA Diminah Chikamai – Finance and Management Unit
- Samwel Makokha – County Administration
This marks a major step toward strengthening service delivery across various departments within the County Executive.
