800 Garissa Homes Connected to Clean Water After Years of Shortages

Over 800 households in Garissa Township now have access to clean water following the commissioning of the ADC Phase 2 Water Extension Project by Governor Nathif Jama.
The new project extends piped water to residents of Dobale, Lower Bulla Gestow, Bulla Haragel, and Bulla Towfiq — villages that have endured over 15 years of water scarcity and high costs from private water vendors.
Speaking during the launch, Governor Jama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to solving the county’s persistent water crisis, especially in drought-prone areas.
“This is not just a water project. It is a lifeline for families and livestock that have long suffered due to unreliable supply,” he said.
The Governor highlighted that this is the fourth water initiative launched in just three months, following similar projects in Modogashe, Maalimin, and Masalani.
Residents welcomed the development, terming it a major relief that will improve hygiene, reduce waterborne diseases, and lower household expenses.
The county government says more water projects are in the pipeline as part of its long-term plan to ensure sustainable access to clean water across Garissa.
