A UK-based civil group, Justice and Equity, has filed a petition at the Milimani High Court seeking the dismissal of top police bosses from the service.
Addressing the press shortly after filing the petition, Chair Sebastian Onyango said the group wants Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, his deputies Gilbert Masengeli and Eliud Lagat, as well as the Director of Criminal Investigations Mohammed Amin, dismissed over what they termed as overseeing abductions and forced disappearances of several youths across the country.
According to the organization, over 80 youths have so far been killed, with hundreds disappearing under unclear circumstances.
The group is calling for all the named officers to be removed from office and charged in court for failing to protect Kenyans.
