ODM Grassroots Officials Challenge Alai’s Claims, Tell Disgruntled Members to Leave

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) grassroots officials from Kileleshwa Ward have today pushed back against claims by area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai that no elections were held in the ward.
Speaking from the party’s headquarters at Chungwa House, the officials presented a united front, urging Alai and his supporters to respect the party’s internal processes.
“We want to tell them that if they are tired of being members of ODM, they are free to leave,” a spokesperson for the group stated. “We cannot sit back and allow them to wreck the party in Kileleshwa.”
The officials expressed their gratitude to the ODM Party for what they described as a transparent and democratic exercise.
“We want to thank the ODM Party for doing an incredible job. The elections were free and fair, and the entire process was conducted transparently through the Mlolongo system,” they added, a reference to the queuing system used for voting.
The newly elected officials, who were present at the press briefing, are now set to participate in the upcoming constituency-level party elections. Their election comes amid a period of internal wrangling within the ODM party, with Alai’s claims highlighting the ongoing tensions surrounding the party’s grassroots elections.
