The Kenya Education Fund (KEF) has reaffirmed its mission of transforming lives through education by hosting its annual Principals’ Meeting at the Radix Hotel in Karen. The forum convened 50 heads of KEF partner schools alongside key stakeholders, including the KCB Foundation, Zeraki, Contentment, and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

The meeting provided a platform to review KEF’s impact, address emerging issues in education, and build stronger collaborations in support of disadvantaged students across Kenya.

In his keynote address, KEF Executive Director and Co-Founder, Mr. Dominic Muasya, reflected on the organization’s journey since its founding in 2004. “We had kids around us who could not afford to join school. I believe education is a right, and poverty should not deny access. Education is a tool for self-reliance and ending poverty,” he said.

Mr. Muasya announced a significant shift in KEF’s scholarship program, which will now support three years of high school and one year of college, in line with Kenya’s evolving education system. He also celebrated the achievements of KEF scholars, noting that in 2024, 80 percent scored C+ and above in KCSE, with all transitioning to higher education. Of these, 65 percent are now employed or self-employed, underscoring the power of education in breaking cycles of poverty.

The conference featured diverse sessions, including mental health and wellness led by Chiromo Hospital Group, competency-based curriculum insights from KNEC’s Dr. William Chelimo, financial literacy guidance from Standard Chartered, and design thinking training by Dr. Norlena Albert. Additional highlights included a resilience and leadership workshop by Susan Gathu, while the KCB Foundation and Zeraki showcased their continued support through resources and digital learning solutions.

The meeting also reinforced KEF’s partnerships, with stakeholders pledging continued collaboration to expand access to quality education. KEF unveiled a forward-looking strategy to deliver more comprehensive and sustainable support for disadvantaged learners.

Since its establishment in 2007, KEF has empowered more than 4,600 students to complete their education, pursue higher learning, and transition into meaningful careers and entrepreneurship.
