PS Mang’eni Launches NYOTA Digital Ecosystem to Empower Kenyan MSMEs

Principal Secretary for MSME Development, Susan Auma Mang’eni, has unveiled the digital ecosystem inception meeting for the NYOTA Kenya Project, a bold initiative designed to revolutionize how Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) access opportunities and resources nationwide.
The NYOTA Project will establish an online one-stop shop and central repository, providing MSMEs with easy access to information, funding solutions, capacity-building programs, and e-commerce tools. By leveraging technology, including artificial intelligence, the platform seeks to empower entrepreneurs to innovate, scale operations, and stay competitive in Kenya’s fast-evolving economy.
Highlighting Kenya’s 100% mobile penetration and youthful population as key enablers of digital transformation, PS Mang’eni emphasized that such platforms are vital in unlocking entrepreneurial potential.
“This platform will serve as a catalyst for MSMEs to grow, access financing, build capacity, and tap into e-commerce opportunities—all in one place,” she said.
The NYOTA Project represents a major step toward inclusive, digitally enabled entrepreneurship. Beyond linking MSMEs to financing and markets, it will provide training, knowledge exchange, and networking opportunities, ensuring small businesses are fully integrated into Kenya’s digital economy.
Through this initiative, the Ministry of MSME Development is positioning itself as a key driver of economic empowerment, fostering innovation, and strengthening the competitiveness of Kenya’s enterprises.
